Cross Country

Nervously waiting on the cold hard concrete,I challenged myself to beat my mates at today's Cross Country. While I was running into the horrible drizzly weather, I was huffing and puffing.I felt really cold but I was still sweating and getting a red face.Nearly to the finish line,I felt happy because my house captains were cheering for me."GO Te Arawa." "Go Ramona."

Ferdinand Magellan

Ferdinand Magellan was born in 1480 in Portugal, Having disagreements with the government he decided he would sail for Spain. After he had the disagreement he went to the king of Spain and ask him for money and a boat and told him to make another way through to go India because the Portugese were blocking the route around Africa. Magellan took the Victoria and sailed across the Magellan Strait to the Pacific Ocean. Magellan had discovered the new ocean, which was very peaceful which is why he called it the Pacific Ocean, When he stopped in the Phillipines to have a break the Phillipines attacked them. Sadly Magellan died and never finished the voyage, however his crew finished the voyage and the Victoria boat was the first to circumnavigate the world.

Netball

When I play netball I always have to practise shooting the ball into the hoop. Every Thursday we play a game against another school. I get a red face and I sweat alot as I play. Before our games we practice and practice untill we get good at it. When we finish practising we have a break in the libary and we have a feed too.
When it's time for us to go, we take our gear and we walk to our coaches car to take us to the netball court. As we got onto the court we see a school that we are playing against. The school that we usually play is Holy Cross. It's always a tough game when we play against Holy Cross. After our game has finished we have a handshake to say "Goodgame."Then get change to go home and relax.

I went sailing!

Sailing on the boat was really cold. It was windy and I was shivering as we were sailing along. As we were sailing, our wake trailed behind the boat. We had to pull the sheet, which was the rope, to raise the sails. We had to pull it as hard as we could. As we were heaving we were starting to struggle and scream. Gale force wind was lashing my hair as we sailed away from the harbour bridge.

Our Pirate Wordle

These stories that we wrote in our google docs were all about pirates to tell our audience information about them. This Wordle tells us what words we used the most in our stories. The words that we mostly used were, pirate, hat and sword to make our stories interesting. We had so much fun making a Wordle.

The Most Dangerous Volcano

When I watched my Volcano eruption it was amazing because lava came out of the volcano
and destroyed Eastland. To make my movie better I could've put some interesting things so it
could not be boring to watch. The part that was really good was when the lava that came out of
the volcano and destroyed the land. The thing that I have learnt from doing this eruption was by
using the ingredients to make it erupt. Next time I will change my voice-over to make it better
and interesting.

I am making movies Awards

We entered the 'I am making movies' competition, that was run by our Auckland Museum. We won the creative story telling section! This movie is from the Awards evening, held yesterday at the Auckland Museum. You will see here our year 7 Kapahaka group who opened the evening. This is followed by us - the talented Room 14 Actors who were in the winning movie. Thanks to all the fantastic people who helped us with this movie. Click here to watch our movie.

He Tangata, He Tangata, He Tangata

We made this movie as part of a competition for the Auckland Museum. Lots of schools from all over Auckland entered the competition. We were delighted to find out that we had made the finals. We got to go to the awards ceremony at the museum too. Keisha Castle-Hughes even gave out the prizes!
The idea of our movie is that even though technology has changed throughout the years, people are still the most important thing in our lives.
All of us enjoyed making the movie. We were so excited to find out that we had won the most Creative Storytelling category. We think our movie is just AWESOME - What do you think?

Active Earth

How do you say that again?

So the whole world has been wondering, how on earth do we actually say - Ejyafjallajokull?
Luckily our teacher knows some lovely Icelandic people and they have helped us out to try and learn.
We can only say that we tried our best - fingers crossed it's nearly good enough!

Stop Thiiiink and DO!

We've been learning that it's important to always stop and think before doing something.
This movie shows what we should do if we find sports gear left on the field.

Favourite Thing at Camp - March 24 2010

Way to go! Heather" shouted Oshania as she threw the bowling ball at the pins.
She was so nervous but she was having a go. When it was Huelo-Ata's turn

she was so excited because it was her secound time at ten pin bowling.
When the pins fell down Huelo-ata only had one left and we were cheering for her
"HURRAY."
Oshania's turn and she got a strike. Her auntie gave her a big hug and a big cuddle.
After that it was my turn and as I carried the bowllig ball I thought that I might break the
ground as it was so heavy. I knocked one of the pins over I was suddenly shocked because
I had done so badly. After my turn our game was over and we had scored 299 points.
